The Lodge attends University Freshers’ Fair

Our Lodge made a unprecedented attendance at the recent Freshers’ Fair at the University of Leicester held on 3rd October 2011, which was kindly supported by the Provincial Grand Master, R W Bro. David Hagger. Members of the Lodge, W.Bro. Andy Green, W.Bro. Kelvin Johnson, and Bro. Jamie Mollart, manned a stall promoting both Freemasonry and the Wyggeston Lodge to students. The day began with hoards of students queuing to enter the hall keen to join societies and pick up the freebies from commercial companies.

The number of students hardly abated throughout the day and they successfully handed out information leaflets on Freemasonry, the Province and the Lodge to over 650 male students. During the day, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro. Peter Kinder, who is also the Provincial Universities’ Scheme Liaison Officer, kindly assisted the members of Wyggeston Lodge by talking with students and handing out information leaflets.

The response from students was very positive and encouraging. There was a great deal of interest particularly from students who already had family Masonic connections and by the end of the day, a total of 12 students were extremely keen to find out more about Freemasonry.

In the days following the Fair, several students contacted the Lodge via the newly updated Lodge website requesting further information about joining.
